Façade – expansion joints
Façade – expansion joints in Zürich & surroundings – clean, tight and visually consistent.
Eurofugen – Façade – expansion joints in the Zürich area. We prepare the joint plan, verify substrate strength and movement, and select an approved system (neutral‑cure silicone, hybrid/MS polymer, PU) in strict accordance with manufacturer specs. Focus: Klinker – Saugfähigkeit. Planning priority: Untergrundvorbereitung & Aktivierung. Standards: EN 15651 / ISO 11600; execution per recognized best practice.
Quality & acceptance
- UV/weather‑resistant sealants fit to exposure
- Uniform, slightly concave finish profile
- Documented execution incl. photo record
- Joint width/depth per plan (≈ 2:1)
- Ensure bond at two flanks; prevent three‑sided adhesion using PE backer rod
Planning & preparation
Create square, sound flanks, define depth and install the closed‑cell backer rod precisely. We verify weather and dew point; application only on dry, load‑bearing flanks. Detailing at edges, reveals and penetrations is recorded in drawings. Mock‑ups with cut‑and‑pull checks provide pre‑approval. Primers are chosen per substrate absorption (e.g., clinker, fair‑faced concrete, fibre cement). Joint layout based on panel sizes and anticipated movement; critical edge zones are eased.
Application & control
Maintain movement capability; remove masking in due time and verify edge adhesion. Use UV‑stable systems and protect adjacent surfaces from contamination. Random cut‑and‑pull checks, width/depth measurements and visual inspection are recorded. Transitions at profile joints and material changes are re‑worked separately. Apply sealant without bubbles, fill the joint evenly and tool to a slightly concave profile.
Joint routing aligns with the building’s movement grid.
Care guidance and maintenance intervals are included at handover.
Interfaces to adjacent trades are clarified to avoid follow‑on damage.

On natural stone we use low‑migration, stone‑safe systems.

Planning & preparation
Clean substrates, define edges and limit bond areas; primers & backer rod are matched to substrate and width. Mock‑ups and dew‑point checks secure approval. Interfaces are coordinated before start.
Frequently asked questions (Façade)
-
How long do façade joints last?
Several years depending on exposure; annual checks advised.
-
What matters at plinth/splash zones?
Capillary‑breaking details, sufficient upstands and robust sealants.
-
Do you provide warranty?
Yes—per Swiss law and manufacturer terms.
-
Which systems do you use for Façade – expansion joints?
EN 15651/ISO 11600‑compliant depending on substrate/movement; UV/weather resistant.
-
What joint width is appropriate?
Derived from the plan; width≈2×depth, observe minimum edge widths.
-
Do you work in rain/frost?
No—only on dry, frost‑free substrates; respect dew point.
-
How do you verify adhesion?
Cleaning/activation, approved primers and, if needed, adhesion tests/mocks.
